Yours Truly on Urbanspoon

Overall GrubGrade A-

The Breakdown:

Atmosphere:  Grade B:  Yours Truly was God’s atonement for PJ’s Luncheonette on our way home from Cleveland.  Yours Truly was clean, but the décor was nothing special.  But, Yours Truly doesn’t seem to pretend to be anything other than what it is – a simple restaurant serving really good food.  No vases or cabinets containing knick-knacks or fancy tables with white tablecloths and napkin tents.  Just a basic restaurant with booths and some tables, but that all it needs to be considering how good the food was.  There was no wait for a table, and even though it was a little noisy from the sizeable breakfast crowd, we were still able to carry on a nice breakfast conversation.

High marks:  Clean, no wait for table

Low marks:  A little noisy,  a little plain

Service:  Grade B+:  Our server at Yours Truly, Jennifer, was really good.  We had coffee refills when we needed, and our food came out quickly.  We never had to ask for anything twice, and as previously mentioned, the restaurant was pretty busy with the breakfast crowd.  Unfortunately, it’s really hard to be impressive with breakfast service, so a “B+” is really an impressive grade.

High marks:  Really good service, attentive server

Low marks:   Nothing overly impressive (breakfast service)

Food/Spirits:  Grade A:  We had the traditional coffee and orange juice for our breakfast beverages.  Both tasted like they were freshly prepared.  Katina went with her favorite, the Belgian waffle, and I chose a Barcelona omelet.  I am not a huge waffle fan, but I must admit that Katina’s Belgian waffle looked perfect.  Fluffy and golden, she assured me that it tasted just as good as it looked.  My omelet was huge, and the ingredients were so balanced that none of them overwhelmed the flavor of the omelet.  Overall, the food quality appeared to be really high.

High marks:  Excellent food and generous portions

Low marks:  None – we’re wondering how good the non-breakfast menu is

Value:  Grade B-:  The portion size and quality of the food was exceptional.  But at $32 (including tip), we spent a little more than we thought was reasonable for breakfast.  Knock about $10 off the total and we might of given an “A.”

High marks:  Generous portion and high quality breakfast food

Low marks:  A little too pricey for breakfast food
